Introduction
The Ottawa Institute of Logotherapy offers an Advanced Professional Development Diploma in Viktor E. Frankl’s Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (LTEA). This course is delivered online through distance learning. It is designed for professionals who seek to deepen their understanding of the principles and methodologies of LTEA and apply them in their practice.
Course Description
The course consists of ten Modules aligned with the Official Curriculum as found in the Study Guides published by the Elisabeth Lukas Archives, and endorsed by the Viktor Frankl Institute, Vienna.

Required Textbook:

Recommended readings: The works of Viktor E. Frankl, Elisabeth S. Lukas, and Joseph B. Fabry.
Recommended Videos: Video Studium (2025) by Professor Maria Marshall contains over 20 hours of video presentations of 31 lectures complement the respective chapters in the textbook assigned for each Module. These video presentations expand on the content of the textbook and help to understand the concepts, process, methods, and practical applications of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis in contemporary clinical practice.
Course Assignments
Participants are expected to submit a 500-word essay for Modules 1-9 and a final 3,000-word essay for the 10th and last Module.
After submitting each essay, it is mandatory to participate in a 30-minute live online individual tutoring session for each Module, which is a distinctive feature of this course. Tutoring is conducted via videoconferencing by Professor Edward Marshall or Professor Maria Marshall.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded an Advanced Professional Development Diploma in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis by the Ottawa Institute of Logotherapy.
Course Accreditation
The Canadian Counseling and Psychotherapy Association grants 120 Continuing Education Hours upon completion of the Advanced Professional Diploma.
This training program meets the educational criteria for accreditation with the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis at the Viktor Frankl Institute, Vienna.
Course Registration
Prerequisites for enrollment include a postgraduate degree, professional registration, or an equivalent qualification.
The course is self-paced and must be completed within two years from the time of registration.
The fee for the course is $600.00 Canadian. This fee covers the cost of receiving the Syllabus and the total of ten individual tutoring sessions of 30 minutes each, adding up to five hours in total.
After registering for the course, participants receive the course Syllabus with detailed instructions on how to follow the course.
The textbook must be purchased separately. It is available trhough Amazon stores worldwide. It is students’ responsibility to purchase the textbook prior to the commencement of the course.
Access to the recommended Video Studium must be purchased separately. These videos are not mandatory for the completion of the course. Access is available through the Ottawa Institute of Logotherapy for a fee of $300.00 Canadian. The Video Studium is not included in the fee of the course. Students are responsible for purchasing their access if desired.
